How Chelsea Will Play In 2020/2021 Campaign?
Until the Premier league restart Chelsea already signed six player to their main team. Such a beast move from Chelsea in just a transfer window. They signed Hakim Ziyech, Timo Werner, Ben Chidwell, Thiago Silva, Kai Haverts, and Malang Sarr. The last name maybe loaned to other club to gain more experience. With at least five new player to to their line up, how Frank Lampard will deal with it? there are some formation that maybe can be used
4-2-3-1
With Werner as single striker Pulisic, Harverts, and Ziyech will stand behid him to serve the ball. While Kante and Kovacic securing mid area as double pivot and four back line ( Clilwell, Silva, Rudiger, James/Azpi) in defend. This formation give Kai Havert big chance to prove his number 10 ability. He can help attactk from both side left and right as Attacking Midfielder
Fullback will overlap in both side while double pivot will make sure the rhyrthm as goodas they want. This formation good againts team who play deep in defense. Haverts with his creativity will very usefull to break the wall or just making space to other player.
3-4-3
Pulisic/Werner, Harverts, and Ziyech will stand in frontline. Chilwell/Alonso, Kovacic, Kante, and James in middle field. Rudiger, Silva, and Azpi in backline. This formation give Chelsea more player while defending. it's great while facing big team with good quality of attack. Just like Chelsea beating Manchester United in semi final FA Cup last season with 3-1.
More player in defend mean that less player in attack. One of Pulisic, Werner, Harverts, or Ziyech will not paly in same time. If Pulisic come to bench, then Werner will go fill the left side, while Harverts playing as false-nine. Replicated formation for Werner while he playing for RB Leipzig.
4-3-3 Asymetric
This formation will applicable while Chelsea is attacking. Chilwell will go up and overlapping in left side. While James still around his place as inverted fullback. James, Kante, and Kovacic will united as three midfielder keeping guard when counter attack may come.
